Career Opportunities
This office administration diploma prepares students to work in fast-paced office environments as corporate secretaries, executive assistants, office administrators, and special assistants. Upward mobility in this role is possible with experience, motivation, dedication, and a positive attitude.
Core Courses
Upon completion of the program the participant must demonstrate the following core competencies:
- Keyboarding - Minimum 40 words per minute (WPM).
- Database Management - Advanced level of proficiency in one database application.
- Business Skills - Business Correspondence Levels 1 and 2, Business Planning, Customer Service, and Management Fundamentals
- Spreadsheets - Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Office Skills - Basic Bookkeeping Level 1, Internet Fundamentals, Personal Computer Fundamentals for End Users, advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Office Procedures Levels 1 and 2, and Punctuation and Writing Skills
- Graphics/Presentation - Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher
- Simulations and Drills - Practical Applications – 3 Units
- Operating Systems - Advanced level of proficiency in a Windows operating system.
- Word Processing - Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Job Readiness/Employability Skills - Job Search and Resume Writing and Thought Patterns for a Successful Career
Elective Courses
Students must complete five (5) credit electives, according to courses selected from the following diploma groups:
- Office Skills
- Accounting
- Business Skills
